Dear Member,

Firstly, please accept our apologies for the slight delay in communicating out to you with regards to our reopening plans. Unfortunately, the guidance in some key areas and several sports was either not very clear or has yet to be published.

Our current plan following the Government guidance is that we will reopen as scheduled on Wednesday 2nd December at 06:30.

The following activities will be available to book online from Saturday 28th November at 22:00 or via Reception during our normal opening hours from Monday onwards:

  • Gym – Bookable on online with a capacity of 20 per 45 min slot
  • Pool – Bookable online with a capacity of 8 per 45 min slot
  • Tennis – Outside already available to book. The LTA have published very clear guidance relating to play for singles / doubles and group coaching. Singles and doubles from different households. Coaching groups.
  • Tennis – Indoors restricted to singles from different households, doubles from same household and bubble. Coaching 121 but not group adult coaching.
  • Real Tennis – Same model as the LTA for indoors.
  • Squash – Can be revert to the systems in place pre lockdown 2 i.e. sides or in your squash bubble.
  • There are no current available updates from the following organisations:
    • Badminton England
    • Table Tennis England
    • England Basketball
    • ECB
    • England Hockey
    • English Short Mat Bowls Associatio
  • Please note that these associations may have updated their guidance after this newsletter has been prepared and sent out.
  • Group Exercise – We expect the guidance for classes to become legislation on Monday and therefore we are very confident that we will be operating to our timetable as advertised. The current Zoom timetable will remain as published for next week and will continue every week going forward. Do not forget that there is also a great selection of On Demand classes available on our Club website. We expect classes to go online from 22:00 on Monday 30th November.
  • Invincibles – We will liaise separately with the group.
  • Fives – The café and bar will not reopen under the current Tier 2 guidelines.

Extra Gym & Pool Slots – The College will now be breaking up a week earlier than originally scheduled, which means we will be able to programme in additional sessions definitely from Monday 14th December and there is a likelihood from a few days before. We are just final seeking clarification and will update you via our social media platforms.

Bookings – Please be mindful of your fellow members when making your bookings. If you cannot attend a session that you have booked, then please either cancel online or if inside the 24 hours cancellation period by contacting Reception. Most pool sessions and peak gym sessions previously had waiting lists. It is better that we fill the vacancy if we can than for members to incur a £5 fine on their account.

We do not wish either to impose a ruling of limiting the number of consecutive sessions from two to one for the gym or pool, so if you do require back to back sessions then please use the full timeallocated. It is frustrating and annoying for other members to see vacant spaces because members have left early.

Memberships will be reinstated from Monday 7th December. The option to suspend your membership remains.

Going forward we hope that the situation becomes more favourable for our industry and that certain activities can at least resume at the pre-Lockdown 2 level. We will keep you updated as and whenchanges occur. As we all know the next review date will be by Wednesday 16th December. It is worth a reminder that in addition to this newsletter, we run a weekly blog on our website, and we use Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to communicate our updates.

We look forward to reopening our doors to you on Wednesday 2nd December.

Ian Davis
