At Wellington Health and Fitness Club, we offer over 90 classes each week. If you’re unsure of what a class may involve, please check our descriptions below. Alternatively, you can contact us here should you have any further questions.

  • AEROBICS

    Class Description

    Good old fashioned Aerobics with easy to follow routines, classic moves like the grapevine.  With high and low impact variations in intensity.  All levels are welcome.

  • AQUA FIT

    Class Description

    A water based class, low impact. Using the resistance of water this workout is 45 minutes of cardio vascular exercise with strength and toning all the major muscles using the woggle. The class is choreographed to music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s – suitable for anyone who has a degree of water confidence.  Especially suitable if you have any lower limb injuries, making it great for people returning from knee or hip replacements.
    Everyone attending is really friendly and loves to have a chat whilst exercising, making it welcoming for new comers to the class.

  • BELLICON REBOUND

    Class Description

    A high intensity Aerobic class using the Bellicon rebounders (small trampettes). Improve your core strength and pelvic floor with the ultimate calorie burner. It’s the most fun you’ll ever have getting in shape, losing weight, improving your health, increasing your stamina, and boosting your immune system. It exercises every one of the 638 muscles in your body while being low-impact, low-stress, and revitalizing to your entire system. Coloured socks are essential.

  • BODY BALANCE

    Class Description

    Ideal for anyone and everyone, Body Balance is the yoga-based class that will improve your mind, your body and your life.  During Body Balance, an inspired soundtrack plays as you bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves and embrace elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. Breathing control is a part of all the exercises, and instructors will always provide options for those just getting started. You’ll strengthen your entire body and leave the class feeling calm, centred and happy.

  • BODY PUMP

    Class Description

    The original barbell class. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout. It will burn up to 590 calories. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music – helping you achieve much more than on your own! You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more.

  • BOOT CAMP

    Class Description

    Using our unique Olympic gym and outside area in the warmer months, the motivational instructor will push you to work hard in this class, burning through a phenomenal amount of calories in just one hour! From lifting Olympic barbells to sprinting intervals on the Watt bikes this functional class will put you through strength and cardiovascular training zones to achieve your optimum fitness and physique goals.

  • BOXING

    Class Description

    Boxercise combines boxing and exercise in great fun, stress busting activity to suit everyone who wants to enjoy boxing training without getting hit or the elitism of some so called purists.

    Boxercise is one of the most effective forms of cross-training available today. It combines use of both aerobic and anaerobic energy systems with the systematic recruitment of both fast and slow twitch muscle fibres in a manner that not only ensures a diverse workout, but also enhances sports specific senses, including hand-eye co-ordination, balance and timing.

    Boxercise classes are always fun, energetic and addictive – all gloves and protective pads are provided.  The music is motivating and sets the tempo for the class – so get you gloves on

  • CIRCUITS

    Class Description

    A good old fashioned circuits set up but in an Olympic gym unique to Wellington H&F Club! This circuit class will push you to go hard and lift heavy, with an instructor that will encourage you to work above and beyond what you thought you could. Using the Olympic barbells, watt bikes and free weights this 45 minute all over body class will smash through the calories and shoot your fitness levels higher with every rep! You will leave this class feeling as though you’ve trained like an athlete and ready to take on anything!

  • CORE & FLEX

    Class Description

    A fusion of exercises focusing on core strength, flexibility and toning your body, reviving and refocusing your mind.

  • FIT STEPS

    Class Description

    ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, Natalie Lowe, Mark Foster and Ian Waite decided to mix the graceful steps of Ballroom and the up tempo steps of the Latin dances together to create a really fun, energetic and effective way to stay fit and keep trim that would appeal to everyone, even if they couldn’t dance. They created Fit Steps – the unique dance fitness programme that is ‘so much fun you don’t even realise you’re getting fit!’

    The programme is based around twelve of the most popular Latin and Ballroom dances. Each dance genre has specific steps matched to it. Our instructors are able to deliver these steps in varying degrees of intensity, adjusting the level of effort needed to accommodate the varying levels of fitness that could be found in any mixed ability class. This makes Fit Steps classes suitable and achievable for everyone, no matter what age, gender or previous experience.

  • FIFTY STEPS

    Class Description

    Aimed at the older members who are newcomers to Fitsteps.

  • GRIT

    Class Description

    LES MILLS GRIT™ Strength is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, designed to improve strength and build lean muscle. This workout uses barbell, weight plate and body weight exercises to blast all major muscle groups. LES MILLS GRIT™ Cardio is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout that improves cardiovascular fitness, increase speed and maximize calorie burn. This workout uses a variety of body weight exercises and provides the challenge and intensity you need to get results fast. Both variations takes cutting edge HIIT and combines it with powerful music and inspirational coaches who will be down on the floor with you, motivating you to go harder to get fit, fast.

  • INDOOR CYCLING

    Class Description

    With our brand new Stages SC3 Indoor Cycling bikes, your instructor will set goals and guide you through each stage of this exciting 45 minute class. The state of the art stages console will feed you your live figures such as Watts, RPM and speed straight from the power pedal, allowing you to have an accurate representation of how hard you are working. Burning up to 600 calories in just 45 minutes, this addictive class will push you to reach your fitness goals and beyond!

  • INVINCIBLES

  • LEGS, TUMS AND BUMS

    Class Description

    Let our instructors help you achieve perfect pins with plenty of squats, lunges and ab work. Followed by developmental stretches and a relaxation period.

  • PILATES

    Class Description

    Pilates is an exercise class involving structured slow controlled moves. It is perfect to help with improved core muscle strength and endurance. This can lead to better posture, joint mobility, toned muscles, improved flexibility and fewer injuries.  Done correctly, Pilates can be tough, so don’t be fooled into thinking it’s easy!

  • SPINNING TABATAS

    Class Description

    4 sets of 4 mins – 20 secs@100%, 10 secs to rest – 16 minutes of fun with a warm up and cool down. A rip roaring class on the spin bikes with a 6.35am start!

  • STEP

    Class Description

    An aerobic workout on 2 levels for all levels, but requires some co-ordination and fitness.  A great workout for toning those legs and buns.

  • STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

    Class Description

    Ideal for people who are new to weights and to those who are already strength training. This full body workout uses a combination of barbell and body weight exercises focusing on exercise technique and maximal muscle activation to strengthen and tone your body down to the deepest of muscles. Your instructor will guide you through each exercise and tell you what muscle group you are working, whilst helping you to achieve correct technique. You will leave this class feeling challenged and you will become more confident to lift heavier weights each time, which will burn more calories and help you achieve a strong toned physique. This class can be used to build yourself up to the Olympic gym and GRIT strength classes if you are new to weights.

  • YOGA SOMATICS

    Class Description

    Yoga Somatics uses yoga moves at the beginning and end of a class to show improve the body’s functionality. The main section of the class is the same as for Somatic Core.

  • ZUMBA

    Class Description

    Zumba uses a mix of Salsa, Reggaton, Merengue, Cumbia (South American dances). Combined with your instructors own individual dance moves, this provides a fun filled, energetic dance workout suitable for all ages and abilities. Whether it’s your first or your fiftieth class, you’re still guaranteed to have a great time burning between 400-600 calories per class!
    Low Impact Zumba is an up-tempo dance fitness class but with simpler routines, suitable for beginners, over 50’s or those looking for a slightly lower intensity workout.

    Low Impact Zumba is an up-tempo dance fitness class but with simpler routines, suitable for beginners, over 50’s or those looking for a slightly lower intensity workout.

You’ll find a fabulous range of group exercise classes here at Wellington Health and Fitness Club. Our three group exercise studios mean that we can offer more than 90 classes every week and so there really is something for everyone. From heart-pumping classes in our Downstairs Studio, to fantastic high intensity classes such as Body Pump and Indoor Cycling, there’s a lot to get you in a sweat. Or, how about a more relaxing class in our Racquets Studio with classes such as Yoga and Pilates?
