September Members Newsletter

Dear Member
As we enter the Autumn months this also signals the start of a new College term which begins on Tuesday 7th September. This Michaelmas term the College will be looking to return to a near as normal operation as possible within the guidelines for education. There are a few changes in timings that we have accommodated into our programme which are different to the previous Spring and Summer terms just gone. The most significant point to note is that the morning sport requirement which was previously on a Friday morning has changed to a Tuesday morning which means that the Club is limited in its programming options for the swimming pool between 10:00 and 12:00 and the gym between 10:00 and 12:45. The online booking service will reflect what squash and tennis courts are available to and from. This change is effective from Tuesday 14th September for the gym and from Tuesday 7th September for the other activities.  Group exercises will continue in the Studio’s as per the new timetable which is available on the Club website and Club App.

The Club is now returning to closing later during the week to accommodate the various evening bookings. Opening Times for the Club during term time will be displayed on the Club website and Club App this weekend.

This is also an opportunity to clarify that all members that pay by direct debit have all day access as do annual members who have renewed since August. If, however, you currently have a previous off-peak annual membership, the new access any time policy does not apply until your next renewal when you will be paying the new membership price.

Group Exercise Classes
The new programme has been expanded to include additional classes with new instructors which is always exciting and refreshing.  There is a bias towards the more popular classes as that is where the demand sits but please look at joining in some of the new classes so that we can assess their impact.

Feedback is always important and with our easy-to-use Feedback Focus form available on the website and App. Please do use this whether positive or not as this this which helps us enormously to improve the service we provide.

Vacancies
We are currently looking to recruit into a number of posts ranging from Recreation Attendants both full and part-time, full time or part time Fitness Instructor, full time Cleaning Operatives, as well as swimming teachers and GX instructors.
Several of our younger team of staff are off to university, and some have found full time employment to match their degrees. We wish them well for the future.

Recruitment for many service provision industries is proving difficult and leisure is no exception. Consequently, we may have to make some operational changes to facilities such Fives Café and Bar where we cannot always offer a full service, so please accept our apologies. We will do our utmost to keep service as normal.

Details of our vacancies are on our website and if you are aware of anyone that would like an opportunity to work at the Club then please do email in to hello@wellingtonfitness.co.uk in the first instance and we will be happy to have an informal chat with them.

Changing Room Update
This project funded by the College is running slightly behind schedule and we expect this facility to be completed and ready for member use by mid / late October.

Tennis – A message from the Tennis Captains
Calling all tennis players at Wellington Health and Fitness.

The Club actively encourages and supports competitive team play in the Berkshire League during the Winter and Summer Seasons. We have Adult and Veterans teams for the Ladies, Men, and Mixed. Adult matches generally take place on weekends with the Vets usually playing midweek.
Support for the teams also includes the chance to participate in coach led training sessions covering match tactics and drills.
“Playing in the teams is good fun and gives you the chance to make new friends, visit other clubs in the area and develop your game”
We are always looking to recruit new players and develop skills. If you are interested then please let us know then please drop us an email hello@wellingtonfitness.co.uk  with your name, team of interest, email address and telephone number and we’ll pass your details on to the appropriate team Captains.

Invincible Message
Recently the Invincible committee agreed to present Barry & Julie Cumin, with a special Invincible Rose to thank him, for all his input in the newsletters & emails during the lockdowns, which kept members up to date with all the club activity…. Barry did a great job, and it made a difference to many people.
This is a sentiment echoed by all the Club staff as well.
