As we are sure you are aware, we will be opening our doors to our members again this week, from Wednesday 2nd December at 0630. Due to the latest government guidelines that have been imposed on our local area stating that we will be placed in tier-2, there will be a few changes to the general running of the club and specific activities. However, we have been working hard to ensure these changes are as small and ineffective to you as possible. There have been a few changes since our last communication with you on Friday evening, specifically regarding Group Exercise classes. Please see below for the information regarding specific activities.
Unfortunately, there is still a lack information and guidance from the following:
Please bear in mind that these governing bodies are constantly reviewing their guidance, and thus we will endeavour to keep you updated as much as possible when we receive changes.
With regard to our Invincibles, we will be liaising with you separately.
Extra Gym and Pool Slots – The College will be breaking up a week earlier than originally scheduled, meaning we will be able to programme in additional sessions from Monday 14th December, or potentially a few days prior to this. We are seeking final clarification on this and we will update you via our social media platforms.
Bookings – Please be mindful of your fellow members when making your bookings. If you cannot attend a session that you have booked, then please either cancel online or if you are within the 24 hours cancellation period, please contact Reception. Most peak pool and gym sessions previously had waiting lists. It is better that we fill the vacancy if we can than, rather than members incurring a £5 fine on their account. We do not wish to impose a rule disallowing consecutive sessions for the gym or pool, so if you do require back to back sessions, please use the full time allocated. It is frustrating and annoying for other members to see vacant spaces because members have left early.
Memberships will be reinstated from Monday 7th December. The option to suspend your membership remains. Going forward we hope that the situation becomes more favourable for our industry and that certain activities can at least resume at the pre-Lockdown 2 level. We will keep you updated as and when changes occur. As we all know the next review date will be by Wednesday 16th December. Make sure you check back here each Monday as we will be posting all club updates in the blog. We will also keep you in the loop via our social media platforms, so make sure you check out our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.
As promised in last week’s blog, we have got some more comparison photos from various areas around the club. We have had lots of feedback saying how fascinating you found these, so hopefully you will find these ones just as interesting.
The first set of photos shows our sports hall. It is one of the areas of the club which sees regular incremental changes rather than irregular radical changes. Such changes include a new net splitting the two sides of hall. Also the cricket nets on the far wall have been removed since we now have a dedicated cricket centre. But most significantly, the floor is much newer, as you can see by how shiny it is compared to the old photo on the left.
Last week we showed our new gym, so this week we thought we would show you where the old gym used to be. As you can see, the old gym was situated in what is now Studio 1. The gym was much smaller (and certainly wouldn’t have allowed for much social distancing). Photos like this show how much the club has grown over the years. Studio 1 now provides a multi-use facility for a variety of Group Ex classes, and has had a serious makeover since the room was converted.
he next set of photos show the transition from what used to be our cafe, and is now our Qube Functional training room. This shows another significant development to the facilities we have to offer here at Wellington.
Not all of you may have seen our rock room, but as you can see by these photos, it has seen some serious renovations over the years. Due to the current Covid climate, the room is unavailable, but if going forward rock climbing is something you are interested in, please don’t hesitate to speak to reception for information on the different ways you can take part.
It’s now only 2 days until we welcome you back through the doors, so we hope you have found all of the re-opening information useful and easy to understand. We acknowledge the rules surrounding some sports can be confusing, and changes are being made very quickly, so please don’t hesitate to contact us either at reception or commenting on this blog below if you have any queries at all.
