Refurbishment Project Dates

We are now able to confirm the dates for the next two major refurbishment projects for essential and critical maintenance programmes that will take place over the summer months. This is a two million pound refurbishment and maintenance programme that will deliver cutting edge green energy supplies and technology to the Club that will result in cleaner and more cost effective operating procedures and costs. This schedule will also ensure that the work in these areas bring the Club up to date with all current compliance standards and legislation.

Swimming Pool and Changing Rooms

The pool changing rooms will be completely refurbished with new flooring, drainage, toilets, lockers, cubicles, showers and lighting. There will be new vanity units along with costume dryers. A large number of your suggestions and feedback have been incorporated into this project.

At the same time essential maintenance will take place in the pool hall and the plant room. These works will replace and update very old tired and ineffective pool plant machinery and systems. New air handling units will be installed to ensure that the air temperature on pool side remains at one degree above the pool water temperature. A new lighting system will be installed at the same time.
Both sets of works will necessitate a complete closure of the changing rooms and swimming pool for the period 10th JULY to the 1st SEPTEMBER.

Alternative arrangements for members have been made to swim at the following swimming pools:

  • Bracknell Leisure Centre
  • Carnival Pool Wokingham
  • Arena Leisure Centre Camberley

You will need to produce your membership card at their reception desks and they will log your details and register your attendance. If you attend any of their aqua sessions the same procedure will be applied.

Outdoor Pool
Members will also be able to use the Outdoor Pool here at Wellington free of charge during the summer period from the 1st July to 3rd September.

Members are still required to come to the main Club Reception to collect a wrist band for that day. Please do not go straight to the Outdoor Pool.

Non-members are still required to pay the non-members fee of £10 per adult and £5 per child. Non-members can only attend as a guest with a member.

Outdoor Pool Opening Times

Monday – Friday: 06:30 – 09:00 & 11:00 – 19:00
Saturday & Sunday: 11:00 – 19:00
Bank Holiday Monday: 11:00 – 15:00

Main Hall

A new heating and lighting system will be installed into the main hall during the period 7th AUGUST – 1st SEPTEMBER.

We had looked at having the work completed in two halves but it would cause a number of issues with regards to access and health and safety to members.

The lack of heating has caused considerable issues and problems to users from the Club and College over the past several cold winters and this essential maintenance programme will result in resolving these issues.
Please note that it is a multi-functional sports hall and temperatures will comply with standards required for such a facility.

Membership Facial Recognition System

The Club has been presented with the opportunity to have a facial recognition identification system installed. This will eventually replace the requirement for members to have membership cards. Members will be required to have a new photograph taken for the system. The cameras will be able to identify your facial features and open the gates. Beards, glasses, hats etc. will not present an issue to the system.
The installation will take place during July and there will be some minimal disruption in and around the reception area. For Milon Circle members you will still require your membership card.

Please note all three projects are funded by the College.

Housing Development

The project which is taking place on Bowman Field is on schedule to be completed by May 2018. Details of the new properties will be made available at Reception in the next few weeks.

New Indoor Cricket / Tennis and Netball Centre Project

The College are still looking to secure funding for this project and it is unlikely to start before the funds are in place and the housing project is completed.

Membership Prices 2017 / 2018

There will be on average a 1.5% price increase on membership fees with effect from 1st August. We have tried to keep the price review to the lowest levels possible and fully appreciate that the new prices coincide with the two facility closures which has been unavoidable.

From the 1st August the family membership category will be discontinued. For new members joining their only options will be an Adult or Junior individual membership. We will however continue to honour all existing family memberships, upon renewal, for as long as they remain valid.

Real Tennis Club

This has now been in operation for almost a year. There are still some snagging issues to be ironed out in relation to the surface of the playing walls and floor. There will also be a closure period for this during the summer to rectify these issues. If you have not seen the game and would love to have a free knock with either Dan or Adam our professional coaches then they will be happy to see you.
There is a separate membership for this facility, there is also an excellent ‘3 Steps to Real Tennis’ package that is an ideal starter for this unique game.

Preva System

On a range of the cardio machines in the gym you can now sign in as a member and set and record your fitness goals, track and improve your performance. Please speak to a member of the Gym Team for more details.
